2013 started out with some very good news! Lockes on Location Styling was honored with WeddingWire’s Bride’s Choice Award! It’s recipients represent the top five percent of wedding professionals who demonstrate excellence in quality, service, responsiveness and professionalism. I am so grateful for the kind words from my beautiful brides in their reviews. 2012 was exceedingly, abundantly, above all I could ask or think both professionally and personally.

It’s amazing what can happen in a year. When God puts something in your heart, He gives you everything you need to handle it. In December 2011, after 7 years of doing hair at the Tacoma Gene Juarez Salon, I branched out on my own as a freelance stylist at Baroque Salon. My husband and I were also ready to start a family. Before we knew it, I was pregnant with our first child! I didn’t suffer from any morning sickness, but I was exhausted being in the salon full time. Thankfully that past before a very busy summer.

At five months pregnant I traveled to Las Vegas, NV for inspiration at the International Beauty Show. Summer brought a busy bridal and photoshoot season. A Road Trip Wedding collaboration with Chloe Photography was featured on Green Wedding Shoes! And our Winter Wedding muse Erica, who was featured on Style Me Pretty in 2011, was spotlighted again in Click Magazine. Her Spring shoot will be seen in Popular Photography Magazine soon! I had the pleasure of styling over a dozen awesome wedding parties, young beauties with Nicole Schauer Photography, LHP’s Highschool Senior Reps, and several maternity shoots for a few of my dear friends. Thanks be to God for the strength and courage to tackle my first year of self employment being pregnant.

By the end of the season my baby bump started getting in the way. I went on maternity leave and my son was born at the end of October. The rest of 2012 was focused completely on him. It was a blessing being home loving on him over the holidays. A special thanks to Chloe, Latasha Haynes, and Nicole Schauer Photography for capturing this special time in my life.

I’m so glad I trusted God and stepped out in faith! I’m thankful for all of the love and support from my husband, family, and friends. It’s so nice being back in the salon. Now learning to balance being a Christian, Wife, Mother, and Business Owner is this year’s goal. God’s grace is sufficient for me. Looking forward to a great 2013!
